The ultimate role of the board is to assist the Association in carrying out the mission and strategic plan of the Association in concert with the strategic goals of the events community.

  • Secretary (One-year role - 2020 term)
  • Treasurer (One-year role - 2020 term)
  • Vice-President (One-year role - 2020 term)
  • Board Member (Two year role - 2020/2021 term)

Process and Requirements


  • Applications for the 2020 or 2020/2021 board will close on COB July 26, 2019.
  • Applicants will be reviewed and graded according to official AWE grading sheet.
  • Review and selection of finalists will take place July 29 - August 3, 2019.
  • Final selection will be made by Executive Committee in September 2019.
  • Final selection will be officially announced in October 2019.

Requirements of Applicants:

  • Anyone can apply (female, male or non-disclosed).
  • Applicants do not have to be an AWE member but must join and pay for premium membership upon acceptance of offered and accepted board seat.
  • In accordance with AWE’s diversity and inclusion mission, applicant does not need previous board experience to apply.
  • All board members must agree to actively serve on a committee or task force.
  • All board members must agree to attend and be prepared for nine out of 12 board meetings.
  • All applicants must agree to attend and pay travel expenses for up to two face-to-face board meetings per calendar year.
